The presentation in this flash talk session consider the Intersection between technology and parenting. Two of the papers examine the mediating role of technology during the COVID-19 pandemic. The third presentation examines the parental characteristics and motivations that underlie children’s ownership of a smartphone as well parental monitoring of their child’s cell phone use. The fourth presentation will describe an experimental study of the impact of maternal mobile phone use while interacting with the child on infants’ joint attention (JA) behaviors and infants’ behavioral and physiological stress markers (i.e., heart rate and negative affect).
