Session Type: Invited Salon

Abstract

The Indigenous Early Learning Collaborative (IELC) is a national initiative designed and facilitated by First Light Education Project and the Brazelton Touchpoints Project. The IELC is comprised of four early learning programs/collaboratives that are engaged in conducting community-based inquiry projects. As community researchers, the inquiries across four educational contexts is driven by locally defined questions and address locally articulated priorities, seeking to strengthen approaches to restoration of Indigenous knowledge systems. This invited salon will be conducted as an interactive dialogue that will describe the journey of practitioners becoming community-based researchers, and will highlight the ways in which community-based inquiry centers equitable partnerships and Indigenous knowledge systems.
