An unexplored potential for science communication has been the digital platforms from which lay people receive and engage with information about science. The increase in technological innovation that has expanded accessibility to technological platforms meant to disseminate information. The demand then of these interactive interfaces that engage the user has been associated with usability and more advanced user-experience. This study expands the current use of user-experience (UX) and introduces science-experience (SX) as a measurable outcome. SX is preliminary defined as the evaluative feeling with a piece of information as a consequence of an internal state (e.g. predispositions, expectations, needs, motivation, mood), coupled with the relationship specific science information that makes the experience noteworthy for the audience, hence, increasing the engagement. Using an unmoderated advance user-experience platform, UserZoom, this study strives to pilot a methodological framework that informs design for digital formats and increase engagement.
