Real-Time Technology Assessment of Emerging Science and Technology: A Trial for Responsible Research and Innovation

Abstract

This paper will show the new combined approach of extracting agendas of discussion \with media analysis and horizon scanning regarding the Ethical, Legal and Social Issues (ELSI) of emerging science and technology. And then, we will present the the results of dialogue practices concerning agenda gained by new approach with various stakeholders. Furthermore, the new communication trials for ELSI of emerging science and technology -subject of discussion co-creation platform (NutShell)- will be discusssed. Through examination of our trials, we would like to formulate a "Real-Time Technology Assessment (RTTA)" system to swiftly focus social discussions in the relevant field. Regarding such formulation of subjects of discussion using the RTTA system, by extracting the subjects of discussion from actual practice via case examples in the molecular robotics, a new agenda building process concerning ELSI and how feedback of the knowledge to the researchers at field sites will be consideration.
