Session Submission Summary

Algorithms at Work: The Practice of Prediction - II: Case Studies of Prediction in Practice

Thu, September 5, 2:45 to 4:15pm, Sheraton New Orleans Hotel, Floor: Eight, Mid-City

Abstract

This session brings together emerging scholars across multiple disciplines to discuss the relationship between the use of automation and prediction technologies and how those using and working with these technologies make meaning and knowledge. Through in-depth ethnographic research, these papers consider their respective technologies/platforms within the context of the markets, spaces, cultures, and industries in which they are embedded, offering a number of new case studies for expanding our comparative understanding of algorithms-in-practice.
