Emotions and Affect in STS Work - II: Science, Technology, Medicine, and Affect

Abstract

This session includes papers on the relation of affect and emotion with science and technology. Paper topics include the role of affect in medical diagnostics and practice, an analysis of affect in medical patient-actors for training residents, a Foucauldian analysis of a controversial water infrastructure project in Turkey, an original statistical analysis of the relation between academic culture and worker output in science and technology fields, an epistemology of emotion, and an analysis of emotional enhancement technology.
