Session Submission Summary

Embodied Narratives of Health, Self, Care, and Knowledge

Thu, September 5, 9:45 to 11:15am, Sheraton New Orleans Hotel, Floor: Four, Oakley

Abstract

This session explores how diverse groups in different contexts--the United States, Nepal, Brazil and Morocco--produce different but overlapping narratives of precarity relative to health, care and subjectivities of self. The session also examines how those in power (psychiatrists and NGOs, for example) help produce the conditions that shape these experiences.
