Plenary III: Regenerations

Abstract

As the final plenary, we found that ending “Regeneration” would be particularly apt. This part of the theme refers, of course, to futures of 4S and STS, but in concert with past and previous generations of scholarship, practice, and activism. Thinking with the other plenaries, Innovation and Interruption, this plenary and its speakers will address what it means to re-generate STS and 4S and to generate STS and 4S futures given contemporary global political and economic conditions, environmental and climate crisis, digital and technological advancements. Plenary speakers will discuss the “regenerative” dimensions of their own research, addressing what has shaped their own methods and modes of engagement with and within STS scholarship and what they seek to generate for STS and 4S futures.
