Joan Donovan, Director of the Technology and Social Change Research Project at Harvard Kennedy’s Shorenstein Center, studies how media manipulation and disinformation campaigns target journalists. Using insights from Science and Technology Studies, Dr. Donovan will illustrate how press plays a key role in communicating the impact of technology on society. As a member of 4s for the last decade, Dr. Donovan will highlight how journalists can cover academic research not only as a counterweight to “fake news,” but also to source fresh and intriguing stories. Lunch will be provided.
