This instructional tool provides intermediate accounting instructors with a real-world example to allow accounting majors to apply the concepts they have learned in financial and intermediate accounting. This experiential learning assignment requires students to use the concepts they have learned in both financial and intermediate accounting as they would in a job environment.
Experiential learning experiences are highly valued at the collegiate level. Students value the opportunity to engage in a realistic exercise that allows them to gauge how classroom knowledge will translate into the work environment they expect to enter upon graduation. The author used this assignment in an undergraduate intermediate accounting course and feedback received from students was positive and encouraging.
