This study presents pedagogical practices used during the virtual-learning pandemic semesters that resulted in significant improvement in student performance, highly favorable student comments and better teaching evaluations. These practices, which inspire students to learn, embrace “Be a Coach Instead of a Judge” by injecting empathy, enthusiasm, positivity and trust along with other learning strategies into the following four aspects: (1) student-teacher relation which is the most important of all, (2) course contents/organization, (3) course delivery and student engagement, and (4) assignments and assessments. These practices may be used in any accounting courses at any levels to motivate students to do their best and march as mightily as they can on an exciting journey of learning.
