Call for Submissions

New Login Information

Due to new security protocols, upon your first visit to the 2022 Midwest Region Meeting submission site, please click on the link at the bottom right that reads "Click here if you have forgotten your password or username." This will allow you to set your password for the submission site (and confirm you are using the email address associated with your AAA account).

If you know your AAA Username, please enter it in the top form field and press the "Reset My Password" button. This will email a password reset link to the email address you have on file with the AAA. Please check your junk folder if you have not received an email from "DO_NOT_REPLY@allacademic.com" within 5 minutes.

Click on the Reset Password link included in the email, and you will be able to set your password. We encourage you to use your AAA member password.

Log in using your AAA username and the new password on the next screen.

Accounting educators, students and professionals are invited to submit their work to the 2022 Midwest Region Meeting, to be held in St. Louis, Missouri on September 29 – October 1, 2022. All submitting authors and co-authors will be asked to volunteer to serve as reviewers of submissions. Submissions will be accepted for the following sessions:

  • Paper Sessions
  • Dialogue Sessions
  • Effective Learning Strategies (ELS) Poster Sessions
  • Sharpen Your Teaching Skills Sessions

The deadline for all submissions is 11:59 pm EDT on June 1, 2022 has been extended to 11:59 pm EDT on June 15, 2022. Login at the upper-right corner of this page to submit.

Paper Sessions
Paper sessions provide an opportunity for researchers to present and discuss completed papers or cases. Sessions will include three or four research papers with discussant(s). Each presenter/discussant will have approximately 20 minutes. Completed papers and case studies may encompass any topical area of accounting and may be theoretical or practice-oriented. Papers can have an academic, practitioner or pedagogical focus. (Do NOT include author identifying information on the cover page.)

Papers accepted to Paper Sessions will be considered for the following awards:

      Best Paper Award

      Best GIWB Paper Award (presented by the Gender Issues Work/Life Balance Section)

      Best TLC Education Paper/Case Award (presented by the Teaching, Learning and Curriculum Section)

      the Best Student Paper Awards for Undergraduate, Masters, or Doctoral students (pending on number of submissions received)


Dialogue Sessions
Dialogue sessions provide an opportunity for researchers to present papers and cases that are in a developmental stage. Authors should indicate their interest in presenting in a Dialogue Session. Dialogue sessions will allow presentation of, and open dialogue with attendees for, five completed papers. Each presenter will have approximately 16 minutes total for presentation and dialogue. The session allows the author to benefit from a greater variety of perspectives in providing feedback on his/her paper. The Dialogue Facilitator will facilitate the discussion amongst the attendees. Papers and case studies submitted to the Dialogue Session may encompass any topical area of accounting and may be theoretical or practice oriented. Papers can have an academic, practitioner or pedagogical focus.. (Do NOT include author identifying information on the cover page.)

      Best Paper Award

Effective Learning Strategies (ELS) Poster Session
The ELS Poster Session showcases ideas, teaching strategies and education innovations that support learning in accounting. It offers an interactive format for presenters to engage colleagues and exchange ideas and resources. The ELS Poster Session will take place during the Friday night reception of the Midwest Region Meeting. Poster display sizes and display space will be determined at a later date and presenters will be notified directly of those specifications.


Sharpen Your Teaching Skills Sessions
Teaching Session proposals are now being accepted for the Sharpen Your Teaching Skills track of concurrent sessions at the meeting. This track of sessions is designed to offer new ideas and best practices in teaching FOR region members, BY region members! Submit your proposal for a mini-workshop presentation, or for a teacher panel, and share your knowledge and experience with your peers.

  • 150-200-word description of the session, and what attendees will learn from attending it
     
  • Identification of session format (panel, workshop), and who the presenters/panelists will be (NOTE: you will be responsible for leading the session at the meeting)
     
  • Time requested for session: 50, 75, or 100 minutes (indicate which time lengths are possible, and which are optimal)
     
  • Space on the program is limited, so please also indicate whether or not you could convert this proposal into an Effective Learning Strategies (ELS) Poster and present it at the ELS session on Friday evening of the meeting.
