Frustrated with the learning outcomes of your principles of financial accounting class? Do you find it hard to motivate millennial generation sophomores to learn accounting, especially since many of them are not even accounting majors? How can you increase the energy, engagement, and interest in the classroom? Additionally, how can you meet the ever expanding AACSB requirements, especially regarding impact, engagement and innovation? We have developed an experimental course which introduces new teaching methodologies that satisfy both our students’ needs and the AACSB requirements. We have done more than just “flip the classroom”, which has been the most preferred non-tradition approach in recent years. In addition to the flipped classroom, we have added involved case studies that the students present to high-ranking accounting professionals. We want to share what we have developed, implemented, and learned.
