An Initiative for Recruiting Accounting Majors

Abstract

The purpose of this paper is to describe an initiative designed to foster greater interest in the accounting major among talented business students. The outreach to these students at our university is built upon the efforts of the Ohio Society of CPAs (OSCPA) Student Ambassador program and includes an invitation to a unique event to recognize the students’ excellent performance in an accounting principles class. The paper describes the event and includes evidence supporting the efficacy of the event for recruitment of accounting majors.
