Capstone Courses and Projects: A benefit to Two-Year Institutions

Abstract

Capstone courses are not designated or highlighted in two-year technical college accounting programs. It is important to design accounting electives as potential capstone courses to prepare two year students for university level courses and structure. Implementing capstone projects within an accounting course can be beneficial to prepare students for critical thinking, accounting competitions and advanced accounting courses such as auditing, forensics and fraud examination.
