Preparing for the Future: The Increased Need for Technology Education and Training to Prepare Accounting Students for Technology Intensive Careers

Abstract

The role of technology plays an important role in an accountant’s career life cycle. The purpose of researching this topic is to state how important technology education and training is in the Accounting profession. In today’s world, it can either make you or break you if you are not prepared correctly. It is hypothesized that technology needs to be more involved in the accounting curriculum in order for accountants to be better prepared in the workforce after graduation. The goal of this research is to help others understand how important it is for technology to be included in the accounting major/minor and show how the curriculum is way behind technology time and in the long run it can play a major role when it comes to job selection.
