Using Sustainability to Boost Student Engagement in the Introductory Management Accounting Course

Abstract

This paper illustrates an approach to overcoming some of the difficulties inherent in teaching introductory accounting courses. It reports on the integration of sustainability concepts into the introductory management accounting course. Sample class activities, resources, discussions, and assignments are presented. Evidence of learning outcomes is provided and supports the effectiveness of this teaching strategy.
