Abstract

My proposal is to demonstrate how I am facilitating my Management / Accounting Information Systems course. My goal when I reorganized the course was to provide maximum experiential learning. The attendees will learn through example on how to apply experiential learning in an accounting course. Below are three experiential learning activities.

“A comprehensive manual accounting practice set to help students of auditing, systems, or financial accounting courses understand the role and importance of basic business documents, records and information flows in the accounting process.”
Computerized Accounting Using QuickBooks Pro 2018
“Early chapters provide installation, familiarization and practice and are followed by a case project of recording transactions and adjustments, performing month–end procedures and recording year–end adjusting entries”.
McGraw Hill SIMnet
“SIMnet is an easy-to-use online training and assessment solution for Microsoft Office”.
This semester, I have been running the class like an accounting department. We meet twice a week; one class is traditional lecture to prepare them for the second class which meets in a lab. The class is composed with mostly seniors so providing them with this type of classroom environment helps prepare them for real world experiences. Also, these students obtain needed skills for the profession.
