Data Analytics in Introductory Accounting Courses

Fri, April 5, 6:00 to 7:30pm, Hyatt Regency Savannah, TBA

Abstract

Most of the emphasis about teaching data analytics currently seems to be on how to integrate data analytics into the junior, senior, and masters level courses, with little material developed for the introductory financial or managerial course. At this introductory level, the data analytics material has to be at a rudimentary level that allows the student to begin to build a base for the rest of the data analytics work throughout the rest of the accounting courses. In this poster, we will be sharing examples of teaching materials that introduce data analytics concepts in the accounting principles courses, including financial accounting and managerial accounting.
