This case is designed to provide undergraduate and graduate auditing students with the requisite skills to sufficiently and appropriately perform completion procedures at the end of a typical audit engagement. This hands-on, interactive case also affirms that new auditors, with their fresh perspectives and unique points of view, are important team players throughout the entire audit process. Tintype, Inc., a hypothetical, publicly traded company, is a manufacturer of personal cameras and other electronics. In the capacity of a staff associate with S & W, CPAs, students respond to requests from the engagement manager to execute several completion procedures in the audit program. This case provides an opportunity for students to examine numerous issues related to the audit completion process, including the evaluation of contingent liabilities and subsequent events, consultation with legal counsel, identification of critical audit matters, and formulation of the audit opinion.
