An Accounting Professor Uses Music to Connect with her Online Students

Abstract

When we moved to a fully online universe when the Covid pandemic struck, I was left grasping for ways I could form a positive bond with my students, and help them to develop a love for accounting through my teaching style. I grappled with how I could create a bond that would transcend the limitations of Zoom when traditional methods no longer were available. I found the simple answer through using popular music to identify the moods of the moment and connect through the lyrics in ways that my own words couldn't.
