We collect the obituaries of 16 women identified within the accounting academe who had obtained the rank of associate or full professor as of 1975-1976 academic year. We gather details about their lives, personal and professional elements, to analyze the group and highlight individual accomplishments. We perform a textual analysis of the obituaries to create a word cloud to determine if career or personal elements resonate with the obituary writers. Our results reveal that the career elements dominate the obituaries. Our paper contributes to the discussions about diversity and inclusion as the barriers that these women overcame still remain today, even if they are not quite as high as they were.
