This paper extends the cost driver research to hospitals by identifying activity-based cost drivers in the nuclear medicine unit (NMU) at a teaching hospital. Recognizing the activity-based cost improves the accuracy of estimating costs. More accurate cost analysis can facilitate the identification of the underutilized resources and related costs, furthering to reduce cost; therefore, help management to make decisions, in particularly, enable management to improve pricing practices by making costing more accurate. This research will help hospitals manage costs, improve the quality and efficiency of the care they provide, and use their resources in a more efficient way.
