How Are Documents Tagged With XBRL?

This teaching session will include details about the new Financial Data Transparency Act passed in December 2022. This act will require governmental entities to produce machine readable financial statements much like those required by publicly traded companies at the SEC's EDGAR. Participants will receive a tutorial on how government Annual Comprehensive Financial Reports can be "tagged" using XBRL and XBRL-related software. The taxonomy used was developed with grant funds from Michigan and Florida, the first taxonomies for governmental data.
