Developing an Interactive Textbook Using iBooks Author

Abstract

New technological developments provide a means of developing and using interactive textbooks delivered via iPad and other personal devices. This article describes the development and use of an interactive accounting textbook using iBooks Author. Traditional and interactive texts are compared, and advantages and disadvantages of this method of development are addressed. In addition, alternate means of developing interactive texts are discussed. Finally, student reaction to using an interactive textbook and the iPad are measured.
