Engaged Learning in the Intermediate Accounting Class

Abstract

This paper discusses the techniques used by the instructor to engage an Intermediate Accounting class. The instructor used a combination of technology and in-class techniques to increase student engagement. Technology tools used include a course management system, a smartboard, online homework, clickers, online pre-tests and a tablet. In-class techniques used include problem templates, group-problem solving and Q and A sessions. The paper also shares results from a student survey about how these techniques helped them master content in this class.
