This paper seeks to address the significant challenges that exist in designing and teaching an effective capstone course that appropriately addresses the evolving demands of the accounting profession. It suggests an accounting capstone course might provide the ideal opportunity for active accounting practitioners to explore an interest in teaching without making a full-time commitment, or for recently retired professionals to become exposed to a possible second career as a professionally qualified accounting professor.
