This study surveys business major undergraduate college students on their usage of traditional media and new media in relation to business communication. We find that email and new social media are consistently ranked as the second and third most frequently used communication channels, after face-to-face meeting. Confidential or ambiguous information is often preferred to be communicated in face-to-face meetings, while new media and email are used for most other communications. Further, students believe new media is gaining popularity, and they need to utilize more new media in order to stay current and successful in business professions.
