Developing a culturally inclusive conceptual model for online learning in East Asia

Short Description

Research into cultural issues and online learning have suggested that current social constructivist based models may not be appropriate for many learners. Using Hofstede’s (1991) often cited cultural dimensions as a lens for analysis, many prominent East Asian countries including Taiwan, Japan, China and South Korea share similar salient cultural dimensions and Noe-Confucian learning models. Founded in empirical evidence across multiple studies this current paper proposes a new model for online learning in East Asia.
