Research into cultural issues and online learning have suggested that current social constructivist based models may not be appropriate for many learners. Using Hofstedeās (1991) often cited cultural dimensions as a lens for analysis, many prominent East Asian countries including Taiwan, Japan, China and South Korea share similar salient cultural dimensions and Noe-Confucian learning models. Founded in empirical evidence across multiple studies this current paper proposes a new model for online learning in East Asia.
