Short Description

Culture influences learning. The need for culturally adapted online learning environments is not solved yet in the USA. Most of online and distance programs here are based on Westernize style of education, which can be obstacle for many international students. This presentation will communicate innovate theoretical rationale and specific design guidelines for class the helps international students acquire cultural, CMC, collaboration, and self-regulation competences. Presenters will share design guidelines that focuses on different kind of scaffolds adapted and personalized to every international student according his/her cultural background, literacy skills, and motivation. Culturally adapted instructional strategies are derived from learners using multiple assessment strategies.
