Short Description

Social presence is a key theoretical construct of distance learning. This study uses the Computer-Mediated Communication Questionnaire, an instrument designed to measure levels of social presence, and expands upon a 2008 paper by Yen and Tu, examining the use of the CMCQ on a multi-cultural group. This current study conducted a confirmatory factor analysis, using Structural Equation Modeling to examine cultural perceptions of social presence in a collectivistic, high-communication context participant population.
