English as Second Language (ESL) instructors have historically faced challenges of motivating and engaging their students in reading. The emergence of Multi-User Virtual Environments (MUVEs) such as, Second Life, provide numerous opportunities for learner engagement and motivation in language learning (Gregory, et al., 2011; Cooke-Plagwitz, 2008). This study explores the early stages of blending ESL literacy and Instructional design aspects by analyzing and visualizing three reading materials in Second Life.
