Short Description

Micro-credentials are digital badges representing a competency or skill that a learner has mastered. Micro-credentials can be offered at all levels and disciplines (Rimland & Raish, 2019). Rooted in “gamification,” learners have the ability to compete for badges which increases engagement, motivation and learning (Rimland & Raish, 2019). With the emergence of this new technology, micro-credentials are gaining traction in the educational community because of their accessibility and targeted competencies.
