This presentation discusses contributions to a special issue in Educational Technology Research and Development on theoretical contributions. After receiving over 100 submissions, 9 papers were selected representing philosophical discussions about the role of theory in our discipline, or the practical application of theory to design, research, and practice. In this session, the editors and authors will share their theoretical contributions, and lead a discussion on how to promote theoretical scholarship in the field.
