The Use of a Digital Question Board to Encourage Student Questioning and Improve Engagement in Large Lecture Classes

Wed, Nov 4, 4:30 to 5:45pm EST (4:30 to 5:45pm EST), Virtual AECT, City4

Short Description

To facilitate student questioning and engagement in large lecture classes, researchers in this study created a digital question board (DQB) for students to freely pose questions, provide and receive feedback using mobile technology, and further explored whether the uses of DQB improved student engagement. Results indicate that using DQB, students had significantly more questionings behaviors, significantly higher interactions, and significantly improved cognitive engagement, and using DQB significantly increased students’ self-regulation.
