How does designing a collection of programs differ from designing an individual one? And which competencies do learning and development professionals need for each type of design? This session explores the re-envisioning of the Designing Learning competency area in the competency model of a major professional development in the field as Designing Curricula and Designing Learning Experiences. Specifically, it explores the need for re-envisioning the competency area, the process for identifying and validating the individual competencies within these competency areas, choices of terminology, and the implications of this competency area to the practice in the field as well as to teaching, research, and theory in Educational Technology.
