This session focuses on a research-practice partnership between a state university and a rural county’s charter school system. For the last six years, we engaged in an iterative process of developing, testing, improving, and retesting a culturally-relevant model of social justice education. In this session we will introduce the model and discuss how we have implemented multimodal and ethnographic research methodologies to capture and situate students’ meaning-making and identity formation within their broader socio-cultural context.
