Despite years of calls for diversifying STEM fields, many gaps remain. Recent research in engineering education has begun to focus on identifying the engineering funds of knowledge that high school students gain from their everyday and cultural experiences. To contribute to this work, this research aims to characterize ways in which students from groups that continue to be underrepresented in engineering might be discovered to be more engineering-ready than their privileged peers.
