Expansive Framing Survey for Online Learners: A Situative Alternative to Community of Inquiry Survey

Thu, Nov 5, 4:30 to 5:45pm EST (4:30 to 5:45pm EST), Virtual AECT, River10

Short Description

6500 online college students completed a new survey about situative “framing” of their learning, an alternative to the popular constructivist Community of Inquiry survey. Exploratory and confirmatory analyses validated the factor structure and the six scales were internally consistent (all α > .77). One scale (Setting:Place) was more highly correlated with perceived learning gains (.56) than any of the ten scales of perceived engagement on the widely-used National Survey of Student Engagement.
