Removing the Colorblinders: A Exploratory Study of Whiteness in Online Course Design Sprints

Fri, Nov 6, 3:00 to 4:15pm EST (3:00 to 4:15pm EST), Virtual AECT, Grand5

Short Description

This study was a training pilot on how color-blind racism functions in online course development. The tasks given to participants were instructional design sprint activities. This study identified key themes and patterns from the critical whiteness literature that participants avoided during the session and those they did not. The study demonstrates a need for further critical research on the intersection of race, ethnicity, and gender in online course development, instructional design, and critical whiteness studies.
