This study empirically measures the relationship between participants’ demographics, self-perceptions of their own agency, and the power status that each participant holds in an online threaded discussion network. Through a novel approach using the social network analysis measure of eigenvector centrality, this study maps the power relationships that form in online threaded discussions. Further, the study also presents the results of regression analysis of the relationships between demographics, agency, and power in online discussions.
