D&D Featured Presentation: Personalized Competency-Based Education: Design Principles from over 50 Successful PCBE Schools

Short Description

We present new knowledge about how to design personalized competency-based education (PCBE). Based on a review of over 50 schools that have transformed to PCBE with great success, we have identified 25 systemically interdependent principles for PCBE and organized them into six core ideas: competency-based education, leaner-centered instruction, restructured curriculum, new roles, a nurturing culture, and new organizational structures. We illustrate each principle with its implementation in a PCBE school we have studied.
