Recreational Video Game Play Can Temporary Improve Arithmetic Problem Solving in Adults

Thu, Nov 4, 1:00 to 2:00pm CDT (1:00 to 2:00pm CDT), Virtual, Online 6B

Short Description

This experimental study investigated the short-term effects of action video game (AVG) training on arithmetic performance and their persistence over time. College students were randomly assigned to AVG and non-AVG training group. After a 40 min of video game training, the non-AVG group’s arithmetic performance increased, while the AVG group’s performance decreased, thus suggesting a possibility of short-term effects of a non-AVG on arithmetic performance. The short-term effects did not persist over time.
