Pundits have been warning against too much "screen time" since the advent of screens, but the catchall term "screen time" leads to oversimplifed questions and misleading popular "scare tactic" articles. Let's retire the term "screen time" and discuss how we might better look at the wide variety of activities we now engage in on screens, along dimensions like passive vs. active (physically and/or cognitively), quality and intent of content, and diversity/interactivity in screen use.
