The use of POGIL (Process Oriented Guided Inquiry Learning) is scant in a synchronous online learning context. This study examines students and the instructor’s perspectives of their POGIL experience in an undergraduate engineering education course during the pandemic. Results show that students favored the integration, while emphasizing the crucial role of instructional guidance. We will discuss implications, informing educators interested in impacting student learning through active learning pedagogies.
