Identifying experiential patterns related to outcomes of underrepresented students via learning management systems trace data

Fri, Oct 28, 10:20 to 10:35am PDT (10:20 to 10:35am PDT), Conf Center, Sunset 6

Short Description

The wide-spread use of Learning Management Systems in higher education allows for the collection of rich data on student experiences. In this study we collected trace data from 4,000 students in introductory chemistry courses. We found that there were substantial differences in the ways students of different ethnic and gender identities interacted with learning management systems that effected course outcomes. In this presentation we invite a conversation about the potential pedagogical implications of these findings.
