Although microlearning is becoming a widely popular instructional method among learning professionals in both higher education and corporate settings, little research has been undertaken on the student perceptions and the influences of microlearning instruction for introductory programming concepts. Based on cognitive load theory and cognitive theory of multimedia learning as theoretical frameworks, we investigated the impact of the microlearning approach in terms of student performances and student perceptions in this exploratory case study.
