Messy but Meaningful: Participatory Learning Experience Design of a Virtual Reality Research Space for Autistic Adults

Wed, Oct 26, 1:30 to 1:45pm PDT (1:30 to 1:45pm PDT), Conf Center, Celebrity 3

Short Description

Designing virtual reality (VR) environments for autistic users has been described as a “wicked problem” in need of design precedent. Therefore, this session details the learning experience design of a VR environment for conducting research with autistic adults. We will detail our: (1) initial ideation and rapid prototyping, (2) functional prototype and cognitive walkthroughs from VR experts, and (3) internal usage study sessions. Findings and implications will be discussed regarding design process, constraints, principles, and insights.
