To meet challenges associated with implementing AI education in middle school settings, teachers need substantial support and professional development. The synchronous online professional development (PD) for cultivating teachers’ competencies can represent one approach to building teacher understanding and preparation for AI education. In this presentation, we will discuss the design strategies for synchronous online AI-PD based on the Community of Inquiry framework and identify the reactions of teachers on the PD through video analysis.
