Short Description (75 words): Adjunct
faculty have no tenure, typically no
benefits, and often jobs can be terminated without
notice. They comprise approximately 50% of the faculty teaching in higher education. Many teach innovatively online. If adjunct faculty feel unengaged, effectiveness may not be at the highest levels. Implementation of a successful mini-certification program may increase
faculty engagement, encourage professional development, and could be an effective
low-cost approach to enhancing overall faculty quality.
